Frequently Asked Questions...

Chances are you may have questions that others have asked before. This page includes a series of questions that are commonly asked by clients and covers a wide range of topics.

WHY SHOULD I HIRE A PHOTOGRAPHER?

I know that a lot of people wonder why hire a photographer at all with the modern advancements of the modern cellphone camera. There are two arguments that can be made here:

  1. A cellphone may produce some beautiful images, but they will not always be the best quality for printing your memories.
  2. If you're a mom like me, you should know that a lot of times we end up behind the camera and never in front of it. Hiring a professional photographer will ensure that your family will have memories to hold onto for years to come.

WHAT TYPES OF PHOTOGRAPHY DO YOU DO?

I offer a wide variety of services, but I mostly specialize in children and families from sitting age until the twilight years. However, it should be noted that while I will photograph newborns within a family session I do not offer newborn photography services.

are retainers refundable?

No. I’m sorry, but all retainers are 100% non-refundable and non-transferable.  If you are not able to meet your original date/time for an event I will allow you to change your time for an event (if I have the availability) or transfer your session to another individual within the event, but I will not refund your retainer or transfer your retainer to a different event entirely.

How long will it take to receive my photos?

Depending on the type of session you can expect to receive your photos within the current time frame listed on the event itself. My standard delivery timeframes are as follows:

A.) Regular and Extended Sessions: Within 24 Hours

B.) Stylized Sessions: Within 24-48 Hours

C.) Boudoir: Within 72 Hours

D.) Events: Any event under 2 hours is delivered within a password protected digital album usually within 48 hours. Longer events will have a digital delivery of "portraits" only within 72 hours with a complete delivery via USB (sent via USPS) within 2wks.

How many images will I get?

This is a pretty loaded question that depends heavily on a variety of factors. Am I photographing a baby? Are you a blinker? Are you wanting an outfit change? Many of these scenarios can limit the amount of photos I will be able to capture in a session – no matter the type of session. Typically, though, unless I have a REALLY tough cookie…you can expect to get AT LEAST 10-15 independent poses per session in a 20 minute session at a non-static location. There will be even more for longer sessions.

Do you give copyright of an image?

Copyright is a property right. Under the Federal Copyright Act of 1976, photographs are protected by copyright from the moment of creation. However, no matter the session I do include a “print release” to all my clientele which provides you unlimited access to have the images printed at your preferred printing establishment. Copyright in its simplest terms means that I “own” the copyright. Selling or obtaining “the copyright” is not possible, but you will have the ability to download, print, and share your images as much as you you’d like.

Will My digital images be watermarked?

If you see my “preview” posts across social media and website you will see my watermark on the image. The ones that are sent to my clients in their password protected digital albums are NOT watermarked. They do, however, have my copyright information embedded within the meta data of the image, but this is not noticeable to the average client.

are you permitted?

100% YES! I carry a permit to photograph at all IndyParks locations with the exception of Garfield Park Conservatory and Sunken Gardens and I have wrapped this price into my pricing. If you wish to photograph at a location that my permit does not cover and they have a permit fee, though, I will ask that you cover that permit fee prior to your session date/time as many locations (think Newfields) require advanced booking.

What type of payments do you take?

I currently accept Venmo, Cash App, and Chime for all retainer payments. I do prefer payments paid via the "friends and family" option to help offset credit card transaction fees, and you can maximize your photography time by paying any remaining balances with Cash.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM RUNNING LATE?

If you are running late for one of my stylized events one of the first things you should do is make sure to message me to let me know. However, because of how strict and packed my schedule can get if you are over 5-10 minutes late for a session I may not be able to accommodate you unless I have a cancellation. If you are running late to a regular or extended session, I can usually accommodate depending on the schedule for that particular day. The best course of action is to just keep me informed.

DO YOU REQUIRE A CONTRACT?

For the most part, yes.

A contract is a protection for both photographer and client to help outline the rights and responsibilities for both parties. This can be especially important for things like weddings and venues like studio shares. I am 100% up front about when a contract is required, and will not allow any money to exchange until one is signed.
